ESC ecological restoration projects are based on careful site analysis of restoration priorities, constraints and opportunities. Our analyses involve understanding vegetation, soil, geology, drainage patterns, and endangered species habitat.
The genesis of ESC developed from a 1987 habitat restoration project at Wild Basin Wilderness Preserve where David Mahler was Executive Director and Judy Walther was Education Director. After capping and restoring an old City of Austin dump site, David and Judy authored “The Process of Habitat Restoration with Specific Application to the Upper Glen Rose Geologic Formationl.” This document became the guideline for starting Environmental Survey Consulting. Over the years, ESC has assisted the City of Austin and Travis County in developing restoration guidelines and specifications.
